If there’s one snack that is a staple in our house, it would be hummus.  We go through loads of the stuff every year.  Lately, we’ve been getting more creative with it and experimenting with some fun appetizer and meal ideas.  Sure, sometimes we lack gumption and just make pita chips or cut up veggies for dipping, but recently, we’ve been full of delicious ideas.  And with the holiday’s upon us, new and creative ways of using popular staples, such as hummus, are always welcome.

Take this pizza for example; Sabra roasted red pepper hummus was used in place of tomato sauce and we topped it with homemade caramelized onions (which were deglazed with balsamic vinegar! Gah, so good), roasted red peppers, bacon and feta.  You can use any kind of toppings you wish, but I highly suggest you give this combo a try.  It is fantastic hot or cold, and can easily be modified into individual or appetizer sized pizzas.  Mini hummus pizzas would make a divine addition to your holiday entertaining menu.

I would probably use the Sabra hummus with Indian spiced, homemade pita chips 🙂

For Christmas Eve we will be serving a cheese fondue. I think the hummus would be a nice alternative dipping sauce I could serve alongside the french bread, carrots, sliced peppers & pita chips.

We are having several family members over for Christmas, so this would be a great appetizer to eat while we wait for the big meal.

We use it with veggies too – it’s the only way the toddler will eat her carrot sticks!

What a great idea! I usually don’t stray far from the usual veggies and crackers, but Hummus on Pizza would be delish!

We love hummus! I’ve been making it with lentils as well which is fabulous! But of course, opening a container or Sabra hummus is the best (and easiest)!
