Alabama White Sauce Chicken Skewers

A classic Southern sauce, perfect for BBQ chicken.

Ingredients

White BBQ Sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp prepared horseradish
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp freshly ground pepper

Skewers

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast sliced or cubed
  • 12 skewers if using wooded skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before using
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

For the White BBQ Sauce

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, horseradish, garlic, lemon juice, mustard powder, cayenne powder, salt and pepper.
  • Let sit for at least 30 minutes before using, however this will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

For the Skewers

  • Slice or cube the chicken. Lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper
  • Place the chicken into a ziplock bag and add enough sauce to coat. Marinade for 30 minutes to an hour.
  • Thread the marinated chicken onto prepared skewers.
  • Place the chicken skewers onto a preheated grill, lightly basting with sauce until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Serve as a light meal or as an appetizer
